Julius Ndungu Kimenia

Julius is 36 years old and lives with his wife and their two children in a small village, Ngetcha, outside Nairobi. The family lives in two small rooms where one of them is both living room and studio. Their dream is in near future to build another room where Julius can concentrate on his work.

Ngetcha is hometown for some of Kenyas most recognized artists and though the village is far away from everything, it has an art scene and several studios where young artists can work and test their talent.

Julius started painting 14 years ago, in spite of his family’s protests. He looked for the atmosphere around the studios in the village and developed his own very special style.

Julius paints with dark colours in thick layers and his paintings is mixed oil and acrylic. His inspiration is relations between people, most of all love which is a general theme in all his paintings.
